Resolution: Framework for Action on the Health and Care Workforce in the WHO European Region 2023–2030

At the 73rd Regional Committee for Europe held in Astana, 24–26 October 2023, the 53 countries in the Region unanimously adopted a Resolution in support of a new Framework for Action on the Health and Care Workforce.

Delegates at the 73rd Regional Committee in Astana (26 October 2023) unanimously passed a resolution to adopt WHO/Europe’s new Framework for Action on the health and care workforce 2023-30 – a political commitment to put into action measures to tackle the health workforce crisis.

The Framework for Action aims to achieve a fit for purpose health workforce in the WHO European Region to meet growing and changing needs.

Its 5 key recommended actions below ensure that health and care workers are at the centre of health systems:

3) Retain and recruit

4) Optimize performance

5) Plan
