European Junior Doctors condemns attacks on healthcare and the obstruction of humanitarian aid in Gaza amid unfolding famine

European Junior Doctors strongly condemns the systematic targeting of healthcare in Gaza. Deliberate attacks on hospitals, medical staff -including junior doctors- and the obstruction of humanitarian aid are flagrant violations of international humanitarian law and are fuelling a worsening humanitarian catastrophe.
We echo the urgent warnings from UN agencies and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC):
- Gaza’s hospitals are overwhelmed, under siege, or destroyed
- Healthcare professionals are being killed while trying to save lives.
- The population is dying from malnutrition and preventable conditions due to the collapse of care.
We call on EU institutions and officials to act with urgency to:
- Secure an immediate and sustained ceasefire
- Ensure the protection of all healthcare workers including junior doctors and medical facilities
- Guarantee full, safe, and unhindered access to humanitarian aid, food, and medical supplies
European leaders must uphold international humanitarian law, protect civilians and healthcare workers, and take immediate action to stop the devastation.
