European Medical Organizations declaration against Slovak government: don't use force against doctors

Declaration of the Presidents of the European Medical Organizations meeting in Warsaw on Sunday 27th November 2011 regarding the situation of Slovak doctors

The European Medical Organizations meeting in Warsaw on Sunday 27th 2011, representing 2 millions of physicians of all European countries are deeply shocked to hear that the President of the Slovak Republic Mr Gasparovic recommends the Slovak government to use force against the Slovak doctors in case of failure of negotiation in five days by introducing the State of Emergency from Tuesday November 29th 2011 onwards.

This step would be unprecedented in the life of European doctors and is totally unacceptable.

The European Medical Organizations strongly protests against this action. We call on the decision-makers in Slovakia to use peaceful means only in the debate with the Slovak physicians and to search together for the best solutions to their problems.
