A conference on the modernisation of Professional Qualification Directive took place in Brussels at the European Commission’s invitation on February the 12th 2014. It focussed especially on the European Professional Card as well on the so called early-warning-mechanism. Furthermore, the necessity of sufficient language skills, a better acknowledgment of the internships as well as the introduction common basic training principles. Not only the organizer, but also the majority of the participants evaluated the reformulated directive as an acceptable compromise. The most important thing is to positively implement the innovations accordingly in the coming years.
The EJD gave support to the amendment of the professional Qualification Directive intensively. The directive came into force as from the January the 17th 2014, after its publication in the official journal of the EU on the end of December 2013 [2013/55/EU]. Until 2016 the different elements of the directive have to be implemented – both on the member state and on the European level.
